Sustained Theme: Why do we at times have more genuine interactions with strangers than those we are supposedly close to?
Passersby #2
- How do diverse crowds and self expression open the door for people to live peacefully? This piece continues to theme of Passersby #1 and #2 in portraying public places in a comforting way. I wanted to capture the motion of the crowds making their way through the city. The right 2 illustrations focus on the different types of people that travel on the streets while the left illustration focuses on people making their mark with the stickers on the power box. The character is saying “mind your business” as a reflection of the attitude of the people just trying to do what they need to do. No one removes or covers the stickers and those marks of self expression are able to survive since it is normalized in that environment.
