Sustained Theme: Why do we at times have more genuine interactions with strangers than those we are supposedly close to?
Not In This House!
I wanted to represent a burst of emotions and self-expression being unwillingly contained within a box. Each group, culture, and household has topics that are taboo or there are actions considered unacceptable. These rules may be put in place to protect the party, but at times they can be stifling. This piece focuses on the side of my sustained where people avoid open communication with those they love. This girl is stuck in a situation of being told to be seen and not heard.
