Sustained Theme: Why do we at times have more genuine interactions with strangers than those we are supposedly close to?
Get That Bread!
- What may cause us to become distracted from those we are close to, and therefore isolate ourselves? This piece tells the story of a father that is exhausted from working to provide physically for his family. Many can relate to seeing their tired and distracted parent or guardian come home from work, eat, and stumble to the TV or straight to bed. Making money is a necessity, but when it takes too much time or energy, something else will pay the price. We are supposed to be close to our families, but disconnection with the rest of the family as a result of an adult working too much can erode understanding and even trust as that person becomes more of a stranger. The provider is isolated from the rest of the family that may not feel they really know who that person is. Dimensions: 12 x 18 in.
